Hatha Yoga

Yoga is the worlds oldest system of self-development and encompasses mind, body and spirit. There are many forms, styles and practices of Yoga. but they all share the same aim, that of connecting and uniting the divine.

Hatha Yoga is the most popular Yoga practised in the west and is the physical component, the postures and breathing exercises, of a broader path called Raja Yoga, which is often described as the royal path of the body and mind.

Hatha translates as sun.HA,and moon,THA,and so Hatha Yoga literally means sun and moon joining together as one. The solar and lunar energies represent the opposing elements of nature and the opposing qualities within humanity, such as heaven and earth, male and female, day and night, intellect and emotion, hot and cold, dry and moist, weight and weightlessness, active and passive, fullness and emptiness.

Through the practice of Hatha Yoga you will follow clear steps which will help you to intergrate and harmonize these aspects of yourself, bringing about balance health and energy in your mind, body and spirit.

Hatha Yoga concentrates on the third (Asana) and fourth (Pranayama) steps in The Eight Limbs of Yoga. It uses Physical Postures Breathing Techniques in order  to energize and clear the energy channels called the Nadis removing the obstacles for the remainder of the eight limbs.

Hatha Yoga is the most popular branch of Yoga and from which a lot of the different styles of Yoga originate: including Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and Kundalini Yoga. When people normally mention Yoga they are usually referring to Hatha Yoga.
